Yes we do make the majority of our food from scratch.. Yes most of that food is smaller batch preparation. But our secret weapon that none of our competitors or contemporaries can claim, is our amazing Pastry Chef Jewelina!
If you’ve had any of our desserts over the past couple of years, then there’s a pretty high probability that she made it. Once we recognized her passion for baking and her creative take on traditional faves… well, we just turned her loose. Jewel is also one of our best front of the house sherpas, with a true skill for customer service that makes her the perfect guide for our menu. We know pubs aren’t necessarily known for their amazing desserts but at 28 North Gastropub that is definitely not the case.
We chose to focus our blog post this week on Jewelina and her scratch made small batch desserts, because she just baked the first batch of this seasons Pumpkin Cheesecake! If you had the chance to taste it last year then we know you’re just as excited as we are that it’s back! Believe it or not, this year Jewel has made it even better by changing the traditional crust to one made from oatmeal cookies! Not only does this make it even more delicious but it also makes it gluten free!
